This desktop review underscores the urgent need for comprehensive research and targeted interventions to address the issue of GBV within Pacific fisheries, considering different nodes along the value chain. Women contribute significantly to provide nutrition security and generate income for basic goods from fisheries resources, thereby helping alleviate poverty and social protection risks. GBV-related risks, therefore, can have devasting impacts on the ability of women to provide and maintain family well-being. Ultimately, addressing GBV in these sectors is crucial not only to safeguard human rights but also to promote equitable participation, sustainable development and resilient livelihoods, ensuring that the benefits of the region’s vital marine resources are shared by all.
