The invisible needs of woman with disabilities.pdf

This study focusses on the experiences of women with physical disabilities in gaining access to public transportation in Malaysia. The study collected data from in-depth interviews with 33 Malaysian women with physical impairments from low income and rural families with limited access to transportation. The findings showed many women had experienced significant barriers to accessing public transport, including inaccessibility of public transport and negative attitudes of public transport providers. Their marginalization lessened their access to broader economic and social participation. WWD also claimed discrimination in public transport services is a significant obstacle for them to live their daily lives.
