Inclusive cities urban area guidelines.pdf

This set of guidelines for Georgia has been developed to support designers and decision-makers working on new infrastructure projects to create inclusive and livable cities. The resource addresses inclusive urban development including international and national laws and regulations, universal design (both outdoor and indoor) and accessible tourism development, inclusive urban development and education, advocacy and public communication. It addresses income inequality, inclusive economic growth, urban rural disparity, unequal access to water, sanitation and energy access, and access to opportunities and participation in society. It addresses gender mainstreaming and intersectionality by identifying the importance of understanding how people experience multiple forms of exclusion and inequality, such as being disabled and being female. It considers an intersectional approach and enables an understanding of how social, cultural, political, and historical contexts can lead to exclusion and inaccessibility in urban settings. It includes separate sections on PWD, child friendly and age friendly cities as well as an outline of how cities can be safe for women.
