This report, jointly prepared by the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and UN Women, explores the critical role of care work in driving economic and social well-being and the persistent gender inequalities that undervalue it. Focusing on “care infrastructure” — both direct care services and the physical infrastructure that supports them — the publication highlights how public development banks (PDBs) can provide long-term, large-scale financing to transform care systems, create decent jobs, and promote gender equality. Drawing on global evidence and case studies from eight PDBs, the report outlines opportunities, strategies, and practical recommendations for investing in care infrastructure to build inclusive, resilient, and prosperous societies.
